Luis Del Vecchyo
Student and future Biotechnologist in Estado de México, México
"To go fast, go alone. To go far, go together".
I'm an 18-year-old student at Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a future biotechnologist graduate at the same institution.
Since I was a little kid, I took an interest in science, and I've been pursuing my dream of having a career related to something scientific since then. As a biotechnologist, I would like to solve problems regarding our planet's health, as well as the posibility of developing new technologies that will help solve our world's problems, such as the availability of water.
My interests and hobbies range from reading novels to listening to music and playing videogames. I speak Spanish (native language), English (FCE, C1 level) and German (A2 level).
As extracurricular activities, I formed part of a science project group in charge of making an hydroponic culture without the use of soil. I also helped the community in need of Villa del Carbón by gathering food and clothing, and also by replacing the soil flooring in the houses with a concrete flooring, essentially improving their quality of life. Finally, I took a trip to Vancouver, Canada and participated in a 2-week seminar focused on business dynamics, in which I received a 2-week scholarship on the VGC Language School for being the winner of the "Best Business Plan Competition", which consisted of 9 teams and a total of 45 students.
I'm currently on my last semester of high school, competing for a scholarship of academic talent for my college studies.
