I always enjoyed going to school growing up. I looked forward to learning new things each day and seeing my friends. The start of high school was extremely exciting for me. It was an all-new experience and it was a lot of fun! And then something happened my sophomore year… I took an AP class. Then school became quite difficult and I had a much heavier workload. Unfortunately, this caused me to dislike school very much. I began to dread the rest of my high school career. Then the summer before my junior year, I was blessed with the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Haiti. This permanently changed the way I view school. It made me appreciate the incredible privilege I have to go to school and get a valuable education here in America. From then on, I have attended school with much more appreciation for the resources available to me. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to attend a wonderful college and learn so much more. Because of my mission trip to Haiti, I enjoy school more than ever and I no longer take it for granted like so many students do.
