Dena Jackson
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Dena loves writing and telling jokes in and around the city of Toronto (and beyond.) She writes sketch comedy and short stories and often breaks out into dance mid-sentence (with no formal dance training to date.) However, Dena DOES have stand-up training from some of the best places in the city such as the Second City and Comedy Bar's "Comedy Girl" taught by Dawn Whitwell. Dena has recently completed a travel novel based on her experiences while travelling as part of a theatre group in Southern Italy.
In 2014 Dena received a nomination for the prestigious Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award, given to aspiring comedians by the Second City. Dena has also won various stand-up comedy competitions that have enabled her to perform on stages such as Yuk Yuks, Absolute Comedy and Toronto's own Comedy Bar.
Dena produces a weekly comedy show at the Cameron House https://www.facebook.com/comedyatthecameronhouse in Toronto and a quarterly themed comedy showcase at the Flying Beaver Pubaret. http://www.pubaret.com/
