I took a plea. even though I was completely innocent! I was absolutely scared to death to have to go to trial. The DA told me I would serve 70 years if I went to trial. I had a Public Defender, who was less than helpful. I spoke to her for a total of about ten minutes and she didn't tell me a thing about the law. She actually admitted to me she did not know how to defend this case. She stated the judge that was to over see this case would convict me, and it would be in my best intrest to plea. I knew *nothing*, except I might have to go to prison for a long time and I didn't want to.... So, of course when they offered me a deal, 9 months into holding me in county jail because I would not admit to guilt I jumped all over it. No trial, No prison just plea and go home. OH BROTHER!! The biggest mistake I have ever made in my life.
