Denise Blok

Senior Operating Executive in Austin, TX Metropolitan Area

Denise Blok is currently semi-retired looking for ways to contribute meaningfully to her community. She received her B.A., in both History and American Studies, from the State University of New York College at Oswego before eventually becoming the Health & Safety Director for the Oswego County Chapter of the American Red Cross in 1993. After serving as the Interim Executive Director she transferred to the American Red Cross in Austin, Texas as their Education & Training Director. With more than two decades of nonprofit experience, Ms. Blok ended her career with the American Red Cross Central Texas Region as their Chief Operating Officer serving 48 counties, to serve the hungry in Hays County as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hays County Food Bank in 2015 then joining the Central Texas Food Bank as their Chief Operations Officer in 2019. In 2022 she accepted the Chief of Staff position with Wurzel Builders, LTD.

Blok’s community involvement has included leadership roles with the following organizations: The Village of San Marcos, Safe Kids Austin Coalition, the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department Aquatics Advisory Board, Hays Youth Soccer Association, Capitol Area Youth Soccer Association, DSHS Preparedness Coordinating Council, Fuentes Elementary PTO and the Central Texas Water Safety Coalition.

Ms. Blok currently resides in Kyle, Texas with her husband, two daughters and a menagerie of pets.
