Ms. Shanklin was the first woman to be awarded the gold medal “Caleb Award” by Australian businessman Peter J. Daniels for her work with women and children in developing countries. The award has been given to people throughout the world for achievement. Recipients of the "Caleb Award" has included Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Robert Schuler from the Chrystal Cathedral, Ron Glosser of the Hershey Foundation and Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.
