Hi, I’m Denise. I'm from a small town in the Netherlands that nobody knows and is not interesting at all, trying very hard to move to the city. I'm the youngest of three and very close to my entire family (which is small ;) ). Around most people I'm kind of quiet but around them I'm very talkative!

When you're studying English everyone assumes that you will become a teacher later but that was not at all my plan! And yet, I'm currently studying to become an English teacher at the ICLON World Teachers Programme of Leiden University. After my initial studies I had a few office jobs but I hated all of them (with a passion) and decided I needed a change. And since I like English and teenagers and my short stint as a volunteer English teacher in Morocco was the best time I ever had, I decided that teaching was the way to go! So here I am!

I'm doing my internship at the Amsterdam International Community School which is such a long commute that I have no time at all left for any hobbies (besides reading which I do on the train :) ). But what I like to do most is hopping on a plane to discover a new destination (preferably in the US!). I like big cities but I am also a big fan of the great outdoors - please don't make me choose between the beach and the mountains! :)

I'm trying very hard to be a CLIL teacher which works very well in an international school because we are all about content! So much so that sometimes I'm lost on where the language learning is!

I'm very excited to do this telecollaborative exchange because I've never done such a thing and it seems really cool to exchange ideas with student teachers from another country!
