Dennis Gilsdorf

I am a teacher/researcher. I am responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, inviting, child centric classroom environment where children are permitted and encouraged to make meaning of their world and communicate their understandings through the languages of the arts and sciences. I document the student's experiences in order to inform my teaching practice, as well as, inform the greater learning community of our daily encounters with the world. I assess children's efficiencies and leverage those efficiences to support and help develop their inefficiencies. All the while infusing my classroom with mindfulness practices so that my students, as well as, myself can experience fully each and every moment. I also work passionately to help children (and adults) to develop positive gender and sexual identities in order to live more authentic lives — because I believe that is our true life's work.
