Dr. Dennis Rogers

Business Builder and Super Connector in Washington, DC

I am the Founder and Chairman of Student Leadership Development, L.L.C. (SLD, L.L.C) is an industry leader in the education and development of student leaders. SLD, LLC connects students to mentors, professional development programming, and opportunities to prepare them for leadership in society (which is sorely needed today).

The company focus includes development of students in the areas of: academia, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, cultural arts, creative, and the healing arts. SLD, L.L.C. operates in Atlanta, GA, Durham, NC, Miami, FL and Washington, DC. My interests include entrepreneurship, higher education administration, and international relations.

I have a career of over 20 years of experience as a community development organizer, and social entrepreneur and engineer. As a social entrepreneur, I have participated in civic engagement with the intention toward solving complex social problems. As a social engineer, I follow the philosophy of Charles Hamilton Houston that points to lawyers as either a social engineer or a parasite. As a university professor in the field of political science, where many future lawyers are trained, I educate with the understanding that public policy formation is a method of social engineering.

In addition, I have practical work experience with the three branches of the federal government. I have served as a consultant with secret security clearance to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the U.S. State Department.

I have also served as a Congressional Liaison for the K Street Law Firm Humphries and Partners, L.L.P in Washington, DC which served as external counsel for General Motors. In addition, I have advised national and international leadership, and consultant to professional associations in the fields of Health, Law, and Economics.

I earned a M.A. and PhD in Political Science from Howard University in Washington, DC. As a University Assistant Professor, I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Political Theory, International Relations, and Entrepreneurship in the Executive MBA Program. I served as a Trustee on the Howard University Board of Trustees. My community service has included leading international educational tours to Amsterdam, Benin, the Caribbean, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France,Ghana, Italy, Morocco, Spain, Togo, and The Vatican.
