If you notice that you are getting a lot of cavities, it may be time to change what you are drinking. Carbonated soft drinks break down the enamel on your teeth and should be avoided to help protect your dental health. If you must drink a carbonated soft drink, immediately brush your teeth after drinking a serving.

Are your gums inflamed and red? If so, you may have gingivitis. People who have inadequate oral hygiene habits often suffer from the gum disease known as gingivitis. Another way to see if you have this is if your gums bleed when brushing. If you believe that you may have gingivitis, see a dentist immediately.

If you are moving from one dentist to another, bring your x-rays with you. X-rays provide valuable information about your teeth and dental history. They can help your new dentist to establish an effective treatment plan that works for you. Many dentists can even email x-rays, making it easy for you to transfer them from office to office.
