Derek Skinner

I am currently a junior finance major in the Isenberg School of Management at UMass. I plan to graduate in 2016 and continue into a career of finance, hopefully in the realm of stock investment. I've always been intriuged by the stock market and its vast influence and wish to form a career within it.

I worked this last summer as a warehouse associate with the supply company, ABC Supply Co. This served as a great introduction for me into the business world as I was often tasked with inventory management and product returns. I hope to take this experience as well as my education within Isenberg into the finance world upon my graduation.

One central passion of mine has always been hip-hop. I've been listening to hip-hop since I was six years old and since then, it has been the only genre of music to really grab my attention and inspire me. Some artist who really propelled my passion for hip-hop were Eminem, Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Nas, and of course, Tupac and Biggie. I frequently attend local hip-hop concerts and have seen the likes of Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, Joey Badass, and Big Sean in recent years. One day I hope to make it to an Eminem concert, who I haven't seen live yet and happens to be my favorite artist of all-time.
