Derek Ainger

Hi There!

I'm Derek Ainger.

Studying towards a degree at Futureworks, on their Audio Engineering & Production course. Hoping to use this degree to get me into the world of audio.

I'm a very competent audio engineer, who can work in a studio environment or live sound.

I must admit, I am in the early days of the audio profession, and currently intern at HQ Recording Studios in Manchester.
However, this does not mean I am in any way less enthusiastic or knowledgeable about audio.

Along with playing the guitar, writing songs and performing, my passion is music, composition and recording.

I moved to Manchester, from Liverpool, in October 2007, but I'm originally from Hartlepool, yes I've travelled about!

I moved to Liverpool in 2005 to originally start a band, and that was fun.

But, after working in Manchester for a couple of months I realised the potential here, and the music scene is amazing, so decided to move here, to further pursue a career in the music industry.

At first, I was simply interested in being in a band and gigging, but after a while, and being around music engineers and producers, I decided that maybe this field would be interesting to get into.

So over the past couple of years have been looking into the recording side of the studio, rather than the performing side.

And now I decided that it would be a great time to move into education, to learn as much as I can about this industry, and get helpful knowledge, resources and contacts, that will help me build an amazing career as an audio engineer/mixer/producer.

I’m just starting, but already have learned so much. And with the facilities, here at Futureworks, available to me, I am able to use some of the most amazing equipment, to shape my future.
