Derek Amanatullah

Dr. Derek Amanatullah is a renowned board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty training in hip and knee replacements, osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis, and infection. With nearly twenty years of experience in the medical field, he is fiercely dedicated to helping improve the lives of his patients and uncovering inventive ways to improve the field of joint replacement surgery. Dr. Amanatullah has established a strong track record of success in the areas of surgery, research, and medical innovation in the surrounding Bay Area and worldwide. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Stanford Hospital and Clinics in Palo Alto, California.

Dr. Amanatullah draws a great deal of inspiration and energy from his patients who suffer from arthritis. He enjoys researching and innovating ways to improve patient care, like alleviating pain and restoring quality of life. He has devoted his life to raising awareness about arthritis. To accomplish this goal, Derek founded Against Arthritis to fund arthritis research with the inherent beauty of joint replacement. Patients have no way to express how much better they feel other than bragging about their scar, their surgeon, or their hospital. Derek aims to harness the beauty in the shapes, textures, colors, and materials used in orthopaedic surgery to create memorable pieces that inspire a patient to tell their individual story of recovery when someone knowingly or unknowingly notices their piece created by Dr. Amanatullah. A significant portion of the proceeds from Against Arthritis go to arthritis research as patients themselves raise public awareness for arthritis with their passion for function.
