Derek Davis
Derek Davis, a natural born singer/songwriter/musician and gifted performer, began his music career at the early age of 12. By age 18, he was writing songs, fronting bands, and headlining clubs, bars, and other music venues in the San Francisco Bay Area. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1988, Derek and his newly formed rock band Babylon A.D. soon caught the attention of the legendary music mogul Clive Davis, who signed them to a recording contract for Arista Records at a private showcase. At Arista Records, the band released two critically acclaimed CDs, the self-titled Babylon A.D. (1990) and Nothing Sacred (1992). In addition, the band released a live five-song EP called Live at the Roxie. The band’s first release, Babylon A.D., produced three “Top 10” songs on the A.O.R Metal charts: “Bang Go the Bells,” “Hammer Swings Down,” and “Kid Goes Wild.” Wild was also the trailer track featured in the Orion Pictures’ film RoboCop 2 (1991). With strong video rotation from MTV and constant touring, the band soon became one of the most popular bands of hard rock fans. Over the past 20 years, Derek Davis has showcased his extraordinary singing and songwriting in several areas. He has had several songs placed in films and has recorded five CDs with Babylon A.D. and one with the band American Blues Box. Derek continues to be involved with many aspects of the music business and is the president of several companies: Apocalypse Records, Perfect Pen Music Publishing, Derek Davis Music Publishing, and Music Event Solutions Entertainment. Currently, Derek is in the mixing stages of his first solo studio release due in September, 2011!
