Derek Fitzhenry
Director of Athletics in Sheldon I.S.D Houston, TX,
A member of the Texas High School Coaches Association and the Baptist Church and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Derek Fitzhenry has coached athletes and directed school athletic programs for nearly three decades. His early work at the Methodist Children’s Home provided critical professional training and set the tone for how he continues to teach and mentor. Derek Fitzhenry went on to hold positions as assistant head football coach/offensive coordinator for Odessa Permian High School and athletic director for the Giddings Independent School District, where he earned several Coach of The Year honors.
Beginning in 2014, Derek Fitzhenry served as the assistant head coach , offensive coordinator and strength/conditioning coordinator for the Football State Champions, North Shore Mustangs in Houston, Texas. In addition to his bachelor of applied science from Louisiana Tech University and his master of education from Texas A&M at Prairie View, Mr. Fitzhenry recently returned to the academic environment to complete concentrated training and author several research papers in the field of educational leadership at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Derek Fitzhenry currently serves as the Athletic Director of a 6A athletic program in Sheldon I.S.D, Houston, Texas.
