Derek Lombard

SVP of Human Resources in Rhode Island

Over the past 20 years, I have worked in Human Resources and Talent Development at Embrace Home Loans. During my time in Talent Development I oversaw the recruiting, training, licensing, community outreach, and cultural activities for over 800 employees across more than 60 branches. Since undertaking this role, I have been involved in creating an employment culture and environment that has earned Embrace Home Loans sixteen consecutive “Best Places to Work in Rhode Island” Awards (by the Providence Business News) and six “Best Small and Medium Companies to Work for in America” Awards (by the Great Place to Work Institute).

About 7 years ago, I moved to Human Resources and have been involved in compensation, benefits, hiring, staffing, employee relations, licensing and workforce development.

I graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. degree in Government. I have earned certificates in Benefits & Compensation and Strategic Human Resources Management from Cornell University and a M.S. degree in Human Resource Development from Villanova University. I have held certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) or Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) since 2010. In addition, I am a Certified Internet Recruiter (CIR) by AIRS, Leadership Architect by Lominger, Interview Architect by Lominger, and Emotional Intelligence Trainer by TalentSmart. I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), a globally recognized designation through the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

In my spare time, I have volunteered in local youth sports leagues as a coach, treasurer of the state SHRM chapter, and the YMCA pink & green committee.
