Maryland business leader Derek McDaniels has more than 35 years of experience in the areas of energy efficiency, housing, infrastructure, and economic development. A commercial real estate developer, he has acquired more than $10 million in commercial properties in the Washington DC metro area.

In addition to his work in real estate development, Derek McDaniels is an experienced educator and community leader. He served as a guest lecturer at Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, as a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins University Real Estate School and taught real estate finance to undergraduate students at the University of Baltimore Merrick School of Business. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he earned an MBA from Marymount University and recently completed his Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) coursework to be designated as an Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP). Derek McDaniels is a member of professional organizations such as the Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (MAHRA), the Maryland Multi-Housing Association (MMHA), the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND), and the Mortgage Bankers Association. Outside of work, he enjoys deep sea fishing and lifting weights.
