Derek Wattay

I’m Derek Wattay, a mass communications and new media major at Towson University. I’m currently in my final semester in college, and I can’t wait for my career in sports media to officially begin.

I’ve been an intern with PressBox, a prominent sports media company in Baltimore, Md., for little more than a year and have gained a ton of valuable experience in the field as a result. I started as an editorial intern and worked my way to television production. I now serve in a utility role as a field reporter and the assistant producer of Inside PressBox (the company’s weekly local sports show on ABC-2, WMAR). As a part of the PressBox team, I have had the opportunity to work with some of Baltimore’s top sports media mavens, cover some of the area's biggest sporting events, as well as interview some of Charm City’s top professional athletes.
