Vadim Derish

Multidisciplinary Tech Professional in Barcelona, Spain

I’m an old-school tech professional with a hands-on background in industrial machinery, military aviation, and the logistics that go with them.

My early career in the Air Force, followed by a couple of decades living and working across different countries and cultures, shaped a practical “fixer” mentality. I often find myself stepping into situations that don’t fit neatly into a job title - working out what’s really going on when something is stuck, untangling problems, finding a way forward, and getting the job back on track.

As of 2026, I also take on construction project management and various consulting roles for individuals and small businesses.

But work is only part of the story. I enjoy DIY, technology and innovation, modern history, and social anthropology. I’m naturally curious about people, places, and the different ways we see and make sense of the world.

I’m always happy to meet new people, exchange ideas and perspectives, share local knowledge or practical advice, and hear what others are working on - especially in the world of tech start-ups.

If you happen to visit my part of the world - drop me a line (in English, Russian, or Spanish). I’m usually up for a cup of tea, a good conversation, and seeing where it might lead.
