My name is Derrick Larry, seeker of knowledge and a graphic ninja. Strategic, multidisciplinary designer & art director with an eye for innovation and pixel perfection. Well versed in interactive design, UX, brand identity design, content creation and print collateral. My wish is to combine my knowledge and experience in these areas, to deliver the best creative solution to my clients and their audiences.
I have deep appreciation for music and arts. Both are constantly evolving and awesome conduit for self-expression as well as a tool for collaboration. Surrounded by friends who are artists, breakers, dancers, DJs, and musicians it was only natural to learn from one another.
After trying my hands on Technics SL-1200MK2 decks (thanks to a good friend that let me try it on for size), I was hooked. I wouldn't say I turned pro overnight. It took sometime to really understand the mechanics of turntablism. I started playing sets at home as a hobby. Eventually I was playing sets at family functions and small parties. It was 8 years ago when I purchased my first mini DJ controller, eventually upgrading to Numark NS6 with a set of speakers. I quickly realized I felt more comfortable and confident on a digital controller over vinyl. My hobby has now turned into a semi part-time gig after someone suggested I share my sets with others. My goal is to hone my craft in DJing.
