Systems Librarian in Tucson, Arizona

I am the Systems Librarian for the National Solar Observatory's Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) in Tucson, Arizona and Maui, Hawaii. Prior to this, I was the Librarian and Webmaster for the Gemini Observatory in Hilo, Hawaii, and the Gemini 8m Telescopes Project (what observatories are before they grow up) in Tucson. Before then, I was an engineering aide for the Mt. Graham International Observatory, also in Tucson. I've been working in and around astronomical construction projects since 1988 and love it.

I'm also very heavily involved with the Special Libraries Association; I've served on several unit boards, was named a Fellow in 2012, and served on the Board of Directors 2015-2017. The Physics-Math-Astronomy Community is my home away from home. Ask me about nontraditional librarianship!

I received my MLIS from the University of Arizona's School of Information Resources and Library Science in 1999, but have been working with document and information management for much longer. I received a Bachelor's of Science in 1991 in astronomy and physics, also from the U of A.

An Air Force brat, I grew up all over the world before settling in the desert and becoming a cold-weather wimp. I like to go on about things you can do with a library degree outside a library, how pop culture treats librarians, electronic document management systems, configuration management, and coffee. (Ah, coffee.)
