Desmond Devnich is a cause-driven professional with extensive experience in marketing, communications, event planning, and community engagement. As Marketing Manager at the Chilliwack Hospice Society, Desmond plays a key role in advancing the organization’s mission to support individuals and families dealing with death and dying through compassionate care, education, and programs that promote wellness and healthy grieving. He oversees media and public relations, website development, social media management, and advertising to raise awareness of the Society’s services and ensure the community knows where to turn for grief support and palliative care resources. His efforts also contribute to the success of fundraising events and the growth of the Thrifty Boutique social enterprise.
Desmond’s career reflects a deep commitment to serving the community. As Program Coordinator for the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association, he led marketing campaigns and organized events such as Party in the Park, the Village Classic Car Show, and Christmas in the City. He has also managed content strategy, developed partnerships, and overseen marketing initiatives for organizations like Chilliwack FC and the Chilliwack Chiefs Hockey Club.
Beyond his professional roles, Desmond has contributed at the board and committee level with several organizations, including the Chilliwack & District Agricultural Society, the Chilliwack Sports Hall of Fame, and the City of Chilliwack Canada Day Committee. These roles underscore his dedication to community development and his passion for strengthening connections between citizens and organizations. Desmond is also an honourary Paul Harris Fellow, recognizing his service and leadership in the community.
Desmond holds an Associate of Arts degree in Media and Communication Studies from the University of the Fraser Valley and is currently completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the same institution.
