I’ve been running my own business in North East Texas since the spring of 2002. DBR Entertainment, Inc., dba The Historic Jefferson Railway, is a family owned company that operates a live steam tourist railway along the Big Cypress Bayou in the Historic district of Jefferson, TX. As the VP of Operations, I am responsible for all day-to-day activities of the business. Prior to purchasing the railway, I had spent 10 years at the Rentrak Corporation in Portland, OR. I started my career there in the technical support department, quickly moving to a management position. Over the next few years, I had managed the software installation, software quality assurance, customer software training and product sales departments. When Rentrak entered the fulfilment market for e-commerce companies during the “dotcom bubble”, I was enlisted to setup the technical side of the project. My duties included project management, personnel management, vendor support as well as acting liaison between the design team and our clients. Once the “dotcom bubble” began to deflate, the team we had built was then enlisted to begin a web-based project that serviced the theatrical divisions of the motion picture studios.
