Technology Professional, Public Speaker, and Performer in Belfast, United Kingdom
Desy (she/her) rhymes with Messi (the football player).
I am a 24 year old woman from Indonesia who has lived in the UK for over 6 years. I work in technology and actively contribute to women's networks by organising various events and initiatives. Public speaking, singing and improv theatre are my biggest passions.
My day job as a Consultant at Deloitte revolves around digital transformations particularly enterprise integration. I have spoken at tech conferences across Europe and my technical skills were recognised through WATC Rising Star Awards 2018 in Technology.
As a woman of colour, I am a proud diversity champion and dedicate my time as a Women Techmakers Organiser, a City Leader at Women Who Code and a Co-Founder at Women of Indonesia (WIN) Career Network.
I run an impromptu public speaking group called The SPUDS Belfast. We are a friendly and supportive group dedicated to provide a safe learning space for people who are terrified of speaking in public.
To fulfill my childhood dream of singing in a band, I've been learning to sing and play the ukulele. It's been challenging as I wasn't musically adept as a child, but it's a lot of fun and I absolutely love it.
I am also training at Belfast Improv Theatre. We perform sets of games or short sketches that are completely made up on the spot based on audience suggestions, just like 'Whose Line is it Anyway?'
I am a firm believer that anyone could be happy, successful and achieve their dreams - irrespective of who they are - as long as they take action to get to where they want to be. If I can do it, so can you.
