Desy Kristianti
Frontend Engineer, Public Speaker, and Diversity Champion in Doncaster, United Kingdom
Desy (she/her) rhymes with Messi (the football player).
I am a 25 year old woman from Indonesia who moved to the UK in 2012. I'm a Frontend Engineer at OakNorth, a credit analysis and monitoring platform powered by machine learning. I also actively contribute to women's networks by organising various events and initiatives. Public speaking and music are my biggest passions.
I have spoken at various tech conferences across Europe, won the WATC Rising Star Awards 2018 in Technology and was a shortlist for the Asian Women of Achievement Awards 2020 in Digital & Technology.
As a woman of colour, I am a proud diversity champion and dedicate my time as a Women Techmakers Belfast Organiser and a #IamRemarkable trainer.
I founded an impromptu public speaking group called The SPUDS Belfast, a friendly and supportive group dedicated to provide a safe learning space for people who are terrified of speaking in public.
Inspired by my childhood dream of singing in a band, I also sing and play the ukulele in my spare time. It was challenging to learn as an adult but I absolutely love it.
I am a firm believer that anyone has the power to engineer their own success - irrespective of who they are and their background. There's nothing you can't achieve if you set your mind to it!
