Day Job: Iqbal Khowaja is a Chief Innovation Officer & Vice President with Vencore's Mission Solutions Group responsible for all US Fed Civilian Business. In his new role, Iqbal is chartered to shun government silos and bring radical improvements to status-quo and conventional US Fed Govt. IT Systems through the use of game-changing, trans-formative and disruptive technologies including cloud, as-a-service and subscription based social software platforms from Google, Salesforce, and Amazon Web Services. Iqbal’s core focus is bringing the velocity of innovation while closely adhering to the US Federal Government’s “Cloud First", “Mobile First” and “Share First” mandates. Most recently, Iqbal served as a Practice Director with Unisys Federal Systems where he led Civilian Administrative & Health Agency accounts. He was responsible for managing a $50M portfolio of programs spun across General Services Administration, National Archives & Records Administration, Dept. of Health & Human Services, Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Military Health. Iqbal served as the overall lead executive; responsible for all aspects of client service delivery, program portfolio management, and financial management. Under his leadership, the Unisys team won several new awards including the General Services Administration’s $27M Database and Application Middleware Server Support Program. Iqbal is a published speaker and frequently speaks at major technology events. In his most recent appearance, Iqbal spoke on ‘Building New Experiences with Google Glass’ and the ‘Future Connected Life’ at The National Association of Broadcasters annual conference in Las Vegas in April 2014. This event hosted over 90 thousand attendees. In May 2011, Mr. Khowaja completed his Executive Masters in Technology Management from the Wharton School, a prestigious degree which combines the study of emerging technologies with an understanding of modern management principles and best practices. This program includes courses on integrating multiple technologies into products and systems and formal training on directing multi-disciplinary teams - turning technological innovations into commercial successes. In total, Iqbal brings over 20 years of industry experience towards the management and delivery of large-scale enterprise software development, IT Modernization, and IT Infrastructure Support Programs.
