After receiving an undergraduate degree in Business and Accounting, I spent ten years in the corporate world doing consulting and project management work. Though I was doing well financially and gradually moving up the corporate ladder, it was hard to find personal meaning in my 9 to 5 job. Psychology had always been an interesting subject to me but not having the right guidance or the courage to explore my interest in the field, I continued in my line of work. That is, until my daughter was born. Holding her in my arms one evening, I realized that no matter what she wanted to become or achieve in life, she would always have my unconditional support. I would encourage her to follow her dreams, overcome obstacles, and move fearlessly on, standing up for what she believes in. And then it struck me that I was not doing the same with my life. I was taking the easy way out. It was then that I decided to do something about it. I had the responsibility to show my daughter that it is never too late to follow one’s dreams. At the height of my corporate career, after much thought and discussion with my family, I decided to leave my job and go back to graduate school. I enrolled in the Masters Program in Counseling Psychology at Northwestern University and after three years of intense clinical training, I graduated with more resolve than I had going into the program to make a positive difference in people’s lives.

So here I am, trying to make my mark, truly believing in the possibility of a better world.
