I would be best described as a lifetime learner. After high school, I started my post-secondary education in Human Kinetics, then Leisure Studies, and now studying the administrative aspects of International Business. My passion for learning compliments my love for sport and active living.
Growing up I had the opportunity to try many sports and played for both school and club teams. For most of my childhood, I was a competitive Highland dancer which gave me the chance to travel across Canada, eastern States, and Great Britain. It was in high school that I eventually found the sport that I love, volleyball.
I am currently playing on the varsity team at Algonquin College. Although there are many hours sacrificed for practice, training, and travel, I would never give it up. The sport drives me to continue to learn and better my skill. I've broken fingers, rolled ankles, bruised my body from diving to the floor, yet the pain and frustrations still motivates me. I have also found that coaching volleyball can be just as rewarding.
I have been so lucky to coach and learn from some of the top instructors in the province. Their wisdom and knowledge helped me to effectively communicate with athletes and encourage young, aspiring volleyball players to reach their goals.
