Devon Fitzgerald
Teacher in South Carolina
Hi! I'm Devon Fitzgerald.
I am an Associate Professor in English and teach rhetoric and writing courses at Winthrop University where I also direct the University Writing Center.
My research primarily focuses on online communities, identity and tensions between the private and the public. I also teach and research podcasts, soundwriting, and feminist and queer theory.
A recent article with Dr. Amber Buck and published in Computers and Composition Online argues for and develops an ethical heuristic for studying online participation in social media.
Most recently, I published a book chapter on mentoring as a writing center methodology in Mentorship/Methodology edited by Leigh Gruwell and Charles Lesh.
My current project centers on intellectual property and DIY and maker communities.
I spend most of my time with my dog, Beau and perfecting the best cup of coffee.
