Deirdre A. Jones

"Never give up, great things take time". No one knows this to be truer that Deirdre. Originally from NJ, this is where she began her journey to higher education. She began her studies in 2003 shortly after graduating from Technology High School in Newark, NJ. After starting her family she had to find a way to balance her family, education and career. She moved to NC in 2006 to start anew and has resided in Durham, NC ever since.

She currently works as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician after receiving her training from Duke University School of Medicine. Everyday she enjoys being able to help her patients maintain healthy eyes. She performs eye exams on adults and children. She also works closely with ophthalmologists in diagnosing and assisting patients with eye diseases, low vision and cataracts. She is an extrovert that loves to laugh and have fun and her children take up most of her time.

In her spare time she loves watching reality t.v. and eating. She is always thinking out of the box and is currently a Nursing major at North Carolina Central University. It's her goal to parlay her budding career in Ophthalmology as a technician to become a Registered Ophthalmic Nurse. Deirdre eventually hopes to be able to work as a travel nurse so that her and her children can experience different parts of the world learning about different cultures, especially their food!
