Thomas the Tank Engine is the titular protagonist of the children's television series Thomas & Friends. He is a steam engine and one of the engines that reside on the Island of Sodor. He has been a popular character among children since the first book, "The Railway Series," was published in 1945. He is known for his bright blue color, his No.1 on his side and his cheeky, but ultimately lovable, personality. Thomas is often depicted as an anthropomorphic steam engine, with the ability to think and speak, and is also known for his catchphrase "I think I can" . He also appeared in many episodes, movies and merchandise.
