I grew up in LA in the 70's & 80's, absorbing Books, Music & Film from my older brother & sister as well as my friends & the world around me. My brother began my love of Comics. I studied Art & Writing, then the Music bug hit me, & I was teaching myself to play Bass, Guitar, some Keyboards & how to read & write Notation. I played in various amateur bands, also singing Lead & arranging for all instruments in the band while making my 1st attempts at writing songs. All this time, I worked warehouse jobs while passing up better positions to keep the long hair. Finally in '07, I cut the hair & relegated music to jam sessions with friends. With the advent of DVD, I embraced the new format around '00 & dived deeper into Film, both new & old, my favorite Genres being Sci Fi, Fantasy & Horror. I enjoy websites that focus on Film & Media like The Digital Bits & Ain't It Cool News, but feel that some have a fetishistic attachment to Nostalgia & Childhood, especially as the writers enter Middle Age, instead of trying to appreciate Art both old & new for its content, meaning & its ability to inspire, move & connect us. It's with this in mind that I'm trying my hand at writing a Film & Media Blog.
