Professional special interests include incorporation of music into the curriculum; the development of personal learning networks (PLNs) for students; personalized learning; and flipped technology professional development for staff.

Attended St. Paul Open School for Middle School years, Scattergood Friends School for High School years. BA in International Relations/Spanish Minor at the University of MN. Teaching credential in secondary social studies from San Francisco State. Masters in Library and Information Science (Library-Media Specialist) from St. Catherine University. Lived 5 years in Fairfax and San Francisco, California. Taught English in Ansan, South Korea, then traveled solo 6 months through SE Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Was a Deadhead in the '80s to mid-'90s, thriving on the associated loving, self-expressive dancing community. Studied tabla at Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, CA. Studied Egyptian doumbek more seriously with Vince Delgado. Was the percussionist for Straw Coyotes, a Bay Area folk group focused on braided harmonies.
