Arifur Rahman

Dhaka, Bangladesh.

A new world unfolded in front of me when I was studying Anthropology in college. My curiosity about the origin of humanity converged with the study of various patterns of storytelling led me to start exploring the “WHY” of humanity.

Most of my personal work are concentrated on the question and a number of them have been acknowledged internationally like my short film ‘Waiting for Godot’ which was screened at the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival in the UK in 2010.

Since then, I have been doing groundbreaking work like my film ‘without any window of His own’, which was supported by German Cultural Centre and BOB and was screened at the International Human Rights Liberation Film Festival, Dhaka, 2012.

Professionally, I have worked closely with the mainstream media as a journalist during college and afterwards worked as a director/producer for a number of television channels like Independent Television and Channel 9 and international media house like BBC.

I have worked as the producer of Kingdom of Clay Subjects, a full-length feature film.

I am also the founder of Goopy Bagha Productions Limited, an open collaborative platform of independent filmmakers and am working there as a director-producer.
