* JANUARY 2000 - diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes
* AUGUST 2008 - The Thanet Coastal Run
Took on running 29 miles to raise funds for diabetes clinic in Sidcup. At age 17 people said a run of such distance would be too much, having never run long distance before n being too young to participate in the London Marathon. Being a diabetic on top of that ruled out most chances of me doing it. 3 hours and 1 min later I sprinted over the finish line to raise £1614
*JULY 2009 - The Isle of Wight Event
The aim was to complete a 70 mile perimeter in 2 days. After taking on extreme training runs, which I again ran Thanet and completed a half-marathon distance in India, I was in the shape of my life. The extreme weather conditions, where it rained hard with a fog which meant I couldn't see ahead, were against me. I didn't manage 70 miles, I made 50 suffering from a diabetic hypo end of day1, as torn ankle ligament damage returned. I put on a gig at The Wight Rock Bar Ryde with Floors and Walls n The Special K's performing. The event raised £2k for Diabetes UK. Dan Francis completed a cycle in 2 days around Isle
*OCTOBER 2009 - Diabetes UK Award
I received the Bryan Walliker Fundraising Achievement Award 2009 for efforts in the Isle of Wight at a Diabetes UK event in the Ramada Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester
*FEBRUARY 2010 - The Bexley Young Diabetics Group
After months of planning with Tim Omer, Natasha Collett and Sheila Burston, we co-founded the Bexley Young Diabetics Group. The 1st meet was in the Bexley Holiday Inn. Guest speakers such as Stephen Dixon, Sky News, and Richard Lane, D.UK president, have attended events.
*AUGUST 2010 - The Isle of Wight Event 2
I returned to the hilly Isle with unfinished business. This time I found the strength to complete it with a sprint even after suffering Knee Cartilige damage. Raising around the £2k mark again for Diabetes UK. The Special K's, Thea Ford n Shush performed a gig. My dad, Vince Griffiths, cycled the Isle in a day
