My goal in life is to beat the odds and not be labeled just another statistic Society looks down on single black mothers, and shone them for having there children out of wedlock. Society stereotypes black women as uneducated, promiscuous, lazy, welfare recepients who live off the system and repeteadly pro-create. Well I refuse to be labeled or defined as another statistic. I am a 28-year old single mother of a five-year old. I work at a group home 3rd shift with autistic boys in addition to being a full-time biology major. I will be a senior next semester and Im elated to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It has been a challenging and difficult journey, plenty of days I wanna throw the towel in.Im constantly having an internal battle with myselfto throw the towel in and give up, it would be so much easier to give up. If i did I would not only be disappointedwith myself but just another statistic. I want to go on to graduate school to become a Physician Assistant (PA). I returned to NCCU in 2013 to finish my biology degree. I have an associate's degree in Pharnacy Technology and I am also a certified Pharmacy Technician. I am determined to reach my goal in life no matter what obstacles life throws my way. Despite your circumstances never become a victim of them weither it's children, growning up without a father or mother, poverty never settle wihtout reaching your full potential in life. You are your own worst enemy in most cases. I refuse to be another statistic, and I;m almost there. I strive to be a resilient successful women. I will hold my head up highand shoot for the stars because she is more then just a statistic CARPE DIEM !!!!!!
