Diane Hoppe Hugo
Minister and Mother in Brunswick, Maine
About Me (see below for About what I do)
I am California girl and a former cocktail waitress (hey, it paid for college!) and it was after spending 10 years in the restaurant industry that I decided to pursue graduate studies in religion.
I often joke that God had to get me close enough to the phone to hear the call.
I have served congregations in Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island, New York (NYC and Staten Island), and New Jersey when I chose to become a full-time "stay-at-home-mom" after our second child was born (Tad is now 19, Maggie is 15). A couple years after we moved to Maine, I landed my dream job and my husband, Buckley, transitioned from the NYC Music Industry to Advocacy for Children with Special Needs.
I love my work! Our church is here to serve Topsham in Maine and the surrounding communities as well as to offer creative, uplifting and honest worship.
We have an unorthodox approach to youth ministry as we not only have a pre-school learning center onsite, but we also open our building to be used by Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, a Youth Theater group, and a Youth Orchestra to name a few. Many other groups also take advantage of our hospitality and you may see hikers gathering on a Thursday morning, chorale groups rehearsing in the evening, and best of all, the laughter of children through out the weekday.
Presbyterians are few in number in New England, so I am a "unicorn" - the only full-time, installed, PCUSA pastor in the state of Maine. Find out more about the church at our website and Facebook page.
