Throughout my high school years, I worked many jobs. However, my most exciting and interesting job has been being a mascot for the Macon Bacon Minor Summer League Baseball Team in South Georgia. This job required me to show up to the field two hours before game time. I would hang out in the office and then dress in the bacon costume. After suiting up, I would go greet spectators and take pictures with the fans. While in the costume, I had one major rule. I was instructed not to speak to anyone for any reason. If you know me, then you know that this was very difficult for me as I am a people person and love little children. When I first stepped out of the office in my costume, I immediately spoke to the worker and got in trouble. I started laughing, which led to me getting in trouble for a second time. This was the hardest part of the job. After greeting fans, I had to be on the field at various times. This included high fiving the players at starting lineup and standing on the field for the national anthem. After that, I would cool off in the office because the costume made it at least 30 degrees hotter than it really was. Between each inning, I had to go back to the field to do fun games and dances with the Sizzle Squad, which was the entertainment crew for the fans. Overall, I enjoyed putting on a silly costume to make fans smile and laugh more as they made new memories.
