Diego Latief

Student in Johannesburg, Gauteng

I’m a dedicated student teacher currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Afrikaans and Physical Education. Originally from Cape Town, I chose to study in Johannesburg to focus fully on my academic and professional growth. Sport has always played a central role in my life- especially rugby, a game that taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and pushing beyond perceived limits. These lessons have shaped my approach to teaching and leadership. I am committed to being a compassionate, innovative, and impactful educator. I believe in the power of education to transform lives, and I aim to create an inclusive and motivating classroom environment where every learner feels valued, heard, and empowered. My strengths include strong communication skills, leadership, adaptability, creative lesson planning, and the ability to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds. Coming from a community where crime and drug abuse are common, I am deeply committed to becoming the kind of teacher who inspires change. I believe that learners should not be defined by their circumstances, and my goal is to empower the youth to rise above their environment and discover their full potential. I strive to create a caring, inclusive classroom where every learner feels seen, supported, and encouraged to succeed.
