Dill Harris

Meridian, Mississippi

Hi, I'm Dill Harris! I come to Maycomb every summer to stay with my aunt Rachel. I'm around the same age as Scout (7 or 8), and like her I could read at a young age. We're engaged, since I promised to marry her once we're old enough.

Personality:

Fabulistic - I tell many tall tales and fibs about my life with my parents. This trait carries into my acting, which I'm really good at.

"He had walked ten or eleven miles of the fourteen miles to Maycomb, off the highway on the scrub brushes lest the authorities be seeking him"

Young - I still have a lot to learn. I haven't yet lost my innocence - I'm still sensitive to racial injustice in Maycomb, like the Tom Robinson Case.

"I don't care one speck. It ain't right, somehow it ain't right to do 'em that way. Hasn't anybody got any business talkin' like that - it just makes me sick."

Curious - I'm young, and therefore very curious about everything, and I love adventure.

"The more we told Dill about the Radleys, the more he wanted to know, the longer he would stand hugging the light pole on the corner, the more he would wonder."
