I am currently a senior at ECU majoring in elementary education. My concentrations are in reading and Middle Grades social studies. My favorite grades to teach are third and fourth grades, and my favorite subjects to teach are language arts and social studies. My personal hobbies include spending time with my dog, Babe, traveling the state, photography, going to football games, biking, reading, and being with my family.
Reading is one of my favorite past times. My favorite things to read are children's and adolescent novels and magazines such as Rolling Stone, National Geographic, and Our State Magazine. A book that I recently read and thoroughly enjoyed was Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary Schmidt. I would consider "Lizzie Bright" as one of my favorite books because of the compelling story line of children fighting for racial equality during the early twentieth century in America. Another reason why I enjoyed the novel so much is because of the way the story is written. The dialogue and emotions are heartfelt and meaningful, and I often found myself completely captivated in the story.
