Dimitra Georgiou

Dr. Dimitra Georgiou is a Postdoc Researcher at the Department of Digital Systems (in the area of Security and Privacy of Cloud Computing) in the University of Piraeus under the supervision of Professor Costas Lambrinoudakis.She is also member of the team of the Systems Security Laboratory since the end of 2011.

She holds a PhD (Excellent, 10/10) in Security of Cloud Computing from the University of Piraeus (2017), an M.Sc (Master) in Technology Education & Digital Systems with the direction of Network Oriented Systems from the University of Piraeus (2009) and a B.Sc (Bachelor) degree as Engineer of Informatics and Telecommunications of the Technological Educational Institute of Larissas (Thessaly) (2007). She also holds an Education & Teaching Proficiency Certificate (Excellent, 10/10) from the University of Cretaof the Department of Primary Education (2017).

She has received two scholarships from the State Scholarship Foundation of Greece . The first one was to study at the VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, in Czech Republic (Erasmus Programme) and the second one was to participate as a Professor to “Innovative Teaching Methods in Adult Education with Practice” (Erasmus + Programme) in Leipzig,Germany. She has successfully completed the intensive programs of Information and Communication Security both of the University of Vienna(SBA Research and Vienna University of Technoland theSwedish University of Karlstad.

During the last years, Dimitra is been working as an Adjunct Lecturer in the University of Piraeus and also in various departments of Technical Educational Institutes in her country. She has been also collaborating with many Public Institutes of Vocational Training of Greece, as a Certified Trainer for Adults.

Dimitra is also a Certified ISMS Auditor of ISO 27001:2013 and she has worked for the private sector as well, namely for the IT Division of the Greek Yellow Pages Company, and the Agricultural Bank of Greece. She has also provided her services to the National Research and Education Network of Greece. Dimitra has been actively involved in local organizing committees and international scientific conferences, co-organized by the Research group of Systems Security Laboratory of Piraeus University. She is a Member of the IEEE, the ISACA and the IEEE Computer Society.

Her current research interests include the areas of Information and Communication Systems Security and of Privacy Enhancing Technologies.
