Greg Below
Greg Below started Distort Entertainment as a concert promotion company in 1997 and was the first to bring major Hard Music bands such as System Of A Down, Incubus, Soulfly, and Slipknot to Canadian audiences. A Platinum engineer/producer formerly with EMI Publishing, Below had a vision to launch a label that integrated his love of heavier music with an opportunity to provide a platform for bands in heavy genres to see wider distribution in Canada. As President of Distort Inc., Below first signed St. Catharines’ Alexisonfire, who went on to achieve amazing success with the label including several MuchMusic Video Awards, Juno awards and platinum-sales status records. In 2007, he started Distort Digital, a new label that focuses on digital distribution of catalogue and ever expanding digital only releases. Currently, he sits as a board member of the Canadian Music Industry Association (CIMA) and is a founding member of the Independent Digital Licensing Agency (IDLA) and is also one of the founders of THe Mobile Cartel a mobile applications company. Below is a graduate of the Music Industry Arts recording program at Fanshawe College.
