While I would describe myself as an avid reader and lover of all things books, my fervent passion for photography has nevertheless led me to internalize the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. When yet another year passes, time constantly feels as though it is speeding up. As though it is running out of reach so fast I would do anything to catch it and hold on to it for as long as I can.
As a little girl, I would always hate when my mom would ask me to say cheese and pose for the camera in literally every possible public setting. Looking back at them now, many of my older photos picture me pouting or frowning in my mom or dad’s arms. I was always so impatient and annoyed that every vacation was spent taking pictures at least 50% of the time. However, as I grew up and looked back at those precious moments, I soon realized the value of our miraculous ability to freeze and capture moments in time.
Over time I grew very fond of scrapbooking and cardmaking. For every birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion, I showed my love through my collages and pages of photographed memories. While capturing memories of the people I love and memories we cherish was what started my obsession with photography, in more recent years, I grew to love photographing landscapes and candid pictures of everyday life even more. Most recently, I went to Morocco with my family, and in Chefchaouen - The “Blue City” - I not only fell absolutely in love with the place, but I was also able to express that love through my pictures. My all-time favorite picture taken there was of the mid-day sun beams hitting a sleeping puppy as I was walking through a vibrant road-side market.
When I got back home, I created photo albums of candids and landscapes from every destination in Morocco and I can proudly say that they are my best pictures to this day - although I am sure there are even more to come in the future.
