Emily Dix
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
I am a graduate student at the University of Toronto currently pursuing a Master of Information degree with concentrations in Library and Information Science as well as Knowledge Management and Information Management. I hold a BA in French Studies from the University of Ottawa and an MA in Comparative Literature from the University of Toronto.
My primary fields of interest are those of academic librarianship, notably digital scholarship initiatives and information literacy, in addition to management practices of ever-growing and evolving information resources, whether that be in a public or private sector setting. My interest in academic librarianship was sparked by my passion for education as well my previous work experience providing educational support services to students as an academic writing advisor at the University of Ottawa. My KMIM coursework has provided me with a challenging and rewarding departure from my academic background in literature, and has inspired me to learn more about the ways in which information can be filtered, managed, and made retrievable in the most efficient manner possible.
Above all, however, I am an enthusiastic learner with a strong work ethic seeking to continually expand my repertoire of skills, and as such, I remain open to any and every opportunity that may present itself!
