Alex "Xander X" Chirchir

Xander X (Alex Chirchir) is a Nairobi based DJ and edm enthusiast. He was born in the sun filled shows of the coast where he studied and lived before moving to the capital in 2011. Here he cultivated his passion for music and began to DJ in 2013, learning how to use professional level equipment and play a few gigs, first under the stage name Key-P, but later on changing to simply Xander X. Starting off with progressive house and then electro-house, he began to enjoy the more agressive and melodic sides of electronica, as well as the deeper, darker tech side. Perhaps this explains his unique ability to deliver sets of great versatility, ranging from progressive house, to bass thumping edm and dubstep, to high energy hardstyle.

2013 saw him make massive strides towards establishing himself in the local Nairobi DJ scene after successfully completing the Dj course at Homeboyz Limited, and with the help of his mentor Woyez began playing at various events. In addition, he began to produce Electronic music with a passion . More independent gigs under various promoters, at venues such as Splash water world, Impala grounds, RFUA, to the outdoor festival atmospheres of Club Iconic.

So far he has successfully established his weekly podcast (Welcome to the X Zone) with further plans to establish guest slots for upcoming Djs. The future is looking bright for the aspiring Dj and since he recently entered a remix completion for Danny Avila’s track Poseidon, he hopes only good things are to follow.
