Mozaic Odom

Donnie Odom otherwise known as, Mozaic, is an emerging producer of music representing Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mozaic’s name is derived from his artistic style which is characterized by his collected collage of multiple music samples, generating the dynamic music beats which he produces. Odom seeks to create music that reaches the soul of the audience he envisions to grasp through his production artistry. He accomplishes this by combining a plethora of samples ranging from soulful hits to jazz rhythms, with complementing melodic chords, smooth bass, and crisp drum sequencing.

Mozaic’s affinity for music began with a passion for collecting vinyl records, a leisure that both he and his father shared. At the age of 16 Mozaic became interested in mixing and making beats. He began sampling music that in no time became the most refreshing compositions of beats that West Michigan has ever heard. He is building a reputation in the city of Grand Rapids with his collaborations with the city’s native artists. Word of his craft began to spread abroad starting with his music page on Myspace that eventually landed him collaborative opportunities with hit making hip hop producers such J Rawls and Jaz O, and also, New York underground emcee NY OIL. These early experiences proved to be most beneficial in establishing Mozaic as a musician of prominence.

Mozaic’s production sounds are now reaching out to the music world. He is currently the exclusive producer for the hip hop group, The Action Figures of Bread Winners, for whom he produced songs such as, “Coral Blue”, “Hater Blockers” featuring Rapper Big Pooh, and other songs. Mozaic has collaborated with the well-known hip hop group Slum Village, featuring Young RJ of Slum Village, which he produced the song, “Homebound”. His collaborations are also formed but not limited to hip hop artists such as AGO, Mahogany Jones, R Swift and many more. He has also formed a duo with up and coming emcee and producer shamarAlef, with their music collab entitled, On Earth as in Heaven (OEAIH). In 2013, he was the 1st place winner of the All of the Above Beat Battle in Lansing, MI while generating a seemingly new buzz with his soulful remixes including the Miley Cyrus Blap + Chop.

When asked why he chose the name Mozaic he responded, "When I hear music I see and feel pictures." "I then take what I see and feel and create it." Mozaic!
