The world is our moment in time. If we listen, we hear God calling us. We embrace our vocation. We do not choose; we are chosen. And if we answer, we are members of the same symphony in which Socrates and Shakespeare played. If not, we must be satisfied with lesser rewards-- money, fame, prestige. The world needs those who are humble and grateful. And we have been known to pause, overwhelmed by the beauty of it all, of our colleagues, of ourselves. When we play our part, the world responds. We find ourselves running into the person we were just thinking about; we hum a tune, and it is playing on the radio; we are the harbingers of sweetness and light. We say to the mountain be moved and cast into the sea; and it is so.
