Devotion Maluleke

I'm Devotion (Divoshine) Maluleke, a dedicated student currently studying Education and majoring in ICT and Afrikaans at the University of Johannesburg in Auckland Park.

My own experiences were effective in my decision to continue my teaching career. My inspiration for my decision of becoming a teacher goes back to my early years when my R class teacher played an important role in helping me learn and master Afrikaans. This positive effect and her kindness made me want to pursue teaching as a profession. This positive impact sparked a lifelong aspiration to pay it forward and provide students with the same guidance and encouragement that I received. I am against the idea that students are empty vessels that need to be filled with information; instead, I believe in developing their ability to think critically and engage in deep learning.

Other than my studies, I am a technology, food, and innovation fanatic. I enjoy exploring how to use technology to revolutionize education and open doors to new learning opportunities. My curiosity also made me understand the importance of developing good learners. Education and volunteering are close to my heart, and I actively seek ways to give back to my community. I am passionate about contributing to initiatives that promote accessible and meaningful learning experiences for all.
