Dogs. Supposedly man’s best friend and my two best friends, Nutmeg and Bibble, can attest to that. The soft brown eyes, wiggling rear ends, toothy grins that continue to bring us closer every waking moment. Despite every last plea and whimper, they were not allowed to be packed in my bags after break. As I said one last goodbye and kissed each pooch on the nose, their eyes seemed to express a heartfelt speech of, “Thomas don’t leave who will there be to let us curl up with in a bed at night and steal all of the blankets and give the best belly rubs ever.” Here at school I no longer have my own personal heater in bed at night. I must be sure to not spread crumbs from various snacks in my dorm as the would gladly “vacuum” the whole rug or sofa. Even worse, there is no companion that always knows what I need whether it be a friendly lick on the face after a rough day or someone to crawl into my lap to watch the game. These dogs are my pets, but more importantly my family members and best friends. I will be able to count on them as long as they are around.
