Dr. Crystal Hadikin BSc. ND
Langford BC
I grew up in a small town in the West Kootenays before moving to Vancouver Island. From a young age I knew that I wanted to go into medicine. In elementary school when we had to do research projects I always chose medical conditions such as diabetes and autism. As with many health professionals my desire to learn more was further guided by personal health struggles which were considered undiagnosable. I became a Pharmacy Technician which introduced me to the use of supplements as an adjunct to health care, but I wanted to learn more. Inspired by head injuries sustained in high school I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge.
While completing my degree, I became a research assistant studying memory at the Canadian Centre for Behavioural Neuroscience. I co-authored a paper published in the journal "Learning & Memory" and presented research at the 2006 Canadian Society for Brain, Behaviour and Cognitive Science conference. After completing my Honours Thesis I still wanted to pursue medicine and decided to go to the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto. It was at Naturopathic school when I finally learned the information which got me on the path to a healthy, happy life. The body is such an interconnected network of pathways, yet somehow we've been taught to look at each system separately. Every person is unique in their health needs and there is no "one plan fits all' treatment strategy.
I am licensed as a Naturopathic Doctor through the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia and am an active member of the British Columbia Naturopathic Association, the NorthWest Naturopathic Association and the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors. In 2010 I volunteered with Natural Doctors International providing free Naturopathic care to local communities on the Island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. I have spoken at numerous community events such as the Sooke Women's Wellness Show and Belmont High School Health and Wellness Day. If your community group is in need of a health speaker please contact me.
My goal is to teach each patient about their unique health needs and develop a plan to get them to optimal wellness. I look forward to working with you.
